COURSE NAME: LAW 121 INTRODUCTION TO LAW ENFORCEMENT
Course Description (Detailed Syllabus is released upon registration)
Students will learn the key concepts of the accredited legal profession terms, keyword, and explanations. Upon completion of this prep course, students will be able to: 1) explain the duties of the lawyer’s assistant, basic aspect of legal ethics including client-lawyer relationship, and various aspects of the law office, 2) describe and evaluate the billing systems and the basic accounting procedures, written communications including interjections and sentence structures, 3) explain the creation of the court system, dual system of courts, administrative agencies including federal and state agencies, litigation including statute of limitation, complaint or petition, lack of jurisdiction, and contracts, 4) discuss the legal process and regulations of torts, criminal law and procedure, family law, business organizations including the incorporation process, and estate planning.
Prerequisites
Graduates of JCI’s Legal Assistant or Criminal Justices Programs

Course Grading and Policies
Points from: Lessons, Assignments, Tests, Classroom Discussion, and Course Portfolio are factors in grade point calculation.
A = 90% – 100%, B = 80% – 89%, C = 70% – 79%, D = 60% – 69%, F = 59% and Below.
Late Assignment Policy: If unable to complete assignments or tests on time, please contact your instructor before the due date. Assignments or tests submitted after the due date without appropriate excuse and pre-approval will receive a zero score.
Award Upon Completion
The student will receive three credit hours upon completion of this course.
