Course Description (Detailed Syllabus is released upon registration)
Students will learn concepts and principles of electronic health records. Upon completion of this course students will be able to: 1) explain software applications and equipment use in managing and maintaining electronic health records, 2) describe and evaluate insurance and billing information and data relating to diagnoses and procedural in compliance with the state and federal government regulations, 3) explain the policies and procedures relating to clinical charting and categories of patient’s health information, and 4) discuss regulatory compliance with PHI and HIPAA Privacy rules including statistical reporting, aging report, and provider, diagnosis, and procedural reports.

Joshua Career Institute’s HIT, MRT, or B&C Programs

Points from: Lessons, Assignments, Tests, Classroom Discussion, and Course Portfolio are factors in grade point calculation.
A = 90% – 100%, B = 80% – 89%, C = 70% – 79%, D = 60% – 69%, F = 59% and Below.
Late Assignment Policy: If unable to complete assignments or tests on time, please contact your instructor before the due date. Assignments or tests submitted after the due date without appropriate excuse and pre-approval will receive a zero score.
Award Upon Completion
The student will receive 3 Credit Hours upon completion of this course.
