COURSE NAME: HCA 101 LAW AND ETHICS IN HEALTHCARE

Students will learn the laws and ethics involved in healthcare. Upon completion of this course students will be able to: 1) explain the functions and interactions between courts, legislatures, state and federal agencies and the various stakeholders in the health services industry, 2) identify and discuss the common legal issues that arise in the delivery of health services, 3) describe the legal and ethical principles to issues related to decision-making by health care providers and consumers, and 4) outline and evaluate common ethical issues related to delivery of health care and how to mitigate them.
