ACT 230 QuickBooks Fundamentals Certification

Students will learn concepts and fundamentals of using and managing the QuickBooks software platform and interface. Upon completion of this course students will be able to:

Students will learn concepts and fundamentals of using and managing the QuickBooks software platform and interface.  Upon completion of this course students will be able to: 1) explain QuickBooks navigation and set up parameters including preferences windows and tabs, 2) describe QuickBooks chart of accounting, list of items, fixed assets, price levels, billing rates, and customer and  vendor activities, 3) explain the accountant center, how to make general journal entries, work with trial balance, set closing dates, and condense data, 4) discuss how set up users and passwords, complete planning and budget, create alerts and reminders, enter vehicle mileage, 5) explain how to create estimates, sales orders, invoices, sales receipts, charges, statements, receive payment, enter and pay bills, and 6) prepare time sheets, pay employees, void and edit checks, pay taxes, manage payroll items, write check, use register, transfer funds, make deposits, and reconcile bank accounts, and create various QuickBooks reports.     

Prerequisites

Joshua’s Accounting Clerk, Accounting Specialist, or Bookkeeping Specialist programs

Access to a printer or printing shop such as FedEx Kinko’s

Access to high speed Internet and a reliable computer

Course Grading and Policies

Points from:  Lessons, Assignments, Tests, Classroom Discussion, and Course Portfolio are factors in grade point calculation.

A = 90% – 100%, B = 80% – 89%, C = 70% – 79%, D = 60% – 69%, F = 59% and Below.

Late Assignment Policy: If unable to complete assignments or tests on time, please contact your instructor before the due date.  Assignments or tests submitted after the due date without appropriate excuse and pre-approval will receive a zero score.

Award Upon Completion

The student will receive 3 Credit Hours upon completion of this course.
